ASID Ruby Award Winner: Heritage Hills Zen Den
We're thrilled to share our award-winning Heritage Hills Zen Den, recognized amongst other incredibly talented designers for Best Adaptive Reuse at this year's ASID Awards!
Recognized for outstanding imagination and creative design, we're honored that our playroom-turned-office project earned top marks in this year's competition. We want to give a heartfelt congratulations to the other winners, and big thank you to ASID for the honor!
Here's a behind-the-design look at this Zen Den, and how our design team turned an unused playroom into a sweet retreat for this empty-nester.
Whether you call it a zen den, quiet room, she shed, or momma’s cave, we created this sort of space for one of our clients who recently became an empty nester. She had been a stay-at-home mom, and once her daughter moved out and went off to college, she wanted a space that was entirely her own – somewhere she could sit in the mornings to do her meditations, work at a desk to pay the bills and run the household, where she could just center herself, get focused, and be productive.
This space had once been a playroom for our clients' daughter, but now that she's gone off to college, these newly empty-nesters wanted to find a new purpose for this room. Here you can see where we started!
And, where our design took us — peaceful palettes, calm tones, and plenty of comfortable spaces to relax and unwind in. Our renovation also took us to the attached jack-and-jill bath to this room, which you can see fully designed here.
Again, thank you to ASID & our Gulf Coast Chapter for recognizing our team and project in this year's Ruby Awards. We're thrilled and honored!
