At Charbonneau Interiors, we love creating spaces that feel both artful and livable. Our latest project, a Lake Woodlands kitchen and bar renovation in The Woodlands, Texas, brought together bold color, timeless finishes, and thoughtful details to create a home designed for gathering and entertaining.
This kitchen, butler’s pantry, and bar transformation celebrates vibrant stone, soft textures, and layers of metals that balance warmth with interest; livability with the lovely. Here’s a closer look at the design details.
Kitchen Design
We chose Arizona Tile’s Anthea Earth Stacked Mosaic for the backsplash, a soft grey porcelain that mimics natural stone. Its subtle depth and color variation allow the backsplash to blend seamlessly into the background, perfectly complementing the vibrant island stone without competing for attention.
For countertops, Cambria Templeton Polished Quartz offers a durable, low-maintenance surface with a subtle texture on the perimeter counters. It is a hardworking choice for everyday use while letting the island shine. The island features Ijen Blue Polished Natural Stone, a vibrant blue stone full of movement that pulls all the finishes together and instantly becomes a conversation piece.
Paint selections included Benjamin Moore Wind’s Breath on the walls, Sherwin-Williams Pure White SW on cabinetry, Sherwin-Williams Ellie Gray on the island, and Sherwin-Williams Naval as an accent.
We refinished the red oak floors with a custom stain, adding warmth to ground the cooler tones in the cabinetry and countertops.
Cabinetry accents feature wire mesh and satin brass details on painted panels, adding depth and interest while keeping storage practical. Waterglass textured glass inserts create a soft, translucent display for collected vases and décor.
To keep the space from feeling too cool, we blended satin nickel, brass, and aged zinc finishes. The mix creates balance and warmth, tying in seamlessly with the wood flooring. A custom metal hood with aged zinc and brass details anchors the kitchen, while the lovely Midnight Blue range with brass accents provides a striking centerpiece. Overhead, statement pendants in matte dark grey and brass bring modern contrast with a nod to classic design.
Butler’s Pantry
The butler’s pantry is designed for both function and flair, perfect for entertaining in this Lake Woodlands home. The backsplash features a mirror tile, which adds sparkle and dimension, reflecting light beautifully. The Ijen Blue natural stone continues from the kitchen for continuity and flow.
Cabinetry details repeat here with satin brass wire mesh and waterglass inserts, tying the spaces together. And, specialty picture lights in brushed brass highlight the cabinetry and give the pantry a gallery-like glow.
The Bar
The bar is both sophisticated and welcoming, ideal for entertaining with a view of Lake Woodlands. An Antique Gold Leaf sconce brings an organic softness, tying in with an iconic Currey & Co. Chandelier in the breakfast room. Clear alder cabinetry with a custom stain adds warmth and natural texture, while a mirrored back panel reflects both the light and the lake view, making the space feel expansive and connected to its surroundings.
